Daily Deviation

Given 2009-04-30
Field of Dreams by *Dougstar10 is a magnificent landscape with beautiful colors, lighting, contrast and perfect attention to detail. ( Featured by `PorcelainPoet )

This is a great image.

Stark dark contrasts and rich vivid colors. The point of view amplifies the natural power of the central object. Balance-wise the composition is a little off center, but that lends a more natural sense to the moment.

I often think of dead or dying treas as natural sculptures, dancers frozen in a moment of their movement.

The sense of life and living still their in the vibrant movement of their limbs and branches.

A powerful sense of life rising from the earth, reaching toward the sky, caught in a moment of the glory of it's struggle to exist.

Caught in the rays of a sun doing battle with a stormy sky, as if to say, "this is me, this is what I am, this is what I have become.

I will continue on."

cool

if you were to submit field of dreams would you be able to use a text based watermark instead of the DA watermark

this is a great shot -- but the dA watermark ruins it.

make your OWN watermark. all professional photographers do. its easy

choose a font you like
type your name anywhere on your photo
voila! instant watermark
check out this guy's watermark

the best way to protect your work is to put up a small resolution that can't be used for much. that's what nate zeman does

I agree...
I hate this DA watermark.

But well, the watermark you linked here, is quite senseless in the blue sky :D

look through his other stuff. he put it in various places.

his work is primarily protected through small res images being posted. He has the original size save on his hard drive.

that is the way professionals protect their work. if you don't have hi res original, ain't nothin you can do about it. Post small res pics.

I wish dA would offer a simple feature where people can type in their name or username or w/e and then a watermark with that on it will appear. dA could actually make a decent watermark promoting the artists, not predominantly dA -- if they wanted to.

I totally agree :)

I just think it was humorous, that the one you chose was on blue sky, easily to remove :)

Small sizes are the only real protection.

And I would like to be able to place the dA watermark out of the middle, or change its size. that would already help. :)

normally I go through his gallery and select one that is not like that, but I was tired and selected this one which is always his first image on his page. I never select this one because I know people know how to remove a watermark with an uncomplicated background. People who use the dA watermark are usually paranoid about their work getting stolen and always look for ways that a watermark can be removed. In reality, people can nab anything -- even one with a dA watermark -- if they really want to. Photoshop is just THAT awesome.

Nonetheless, the main point is his font is tasteful and classy, and people remember HIS name, not a dA commercial. He's chosen the real method of image protection -- size posted.

yepp, dont get me wrong, I agree with you, just a funny thought :)

I bet it is very easy to remove that watermark... Just load up a black or a white deviation, give it a watermark and you can correct the light density by using your dA watermark as a mask to apply some contrast to the image you want to re-watermark :D
